All-Inclusive Japan Travel Packages

Dreaming about a vacation to Japan is a wonderful thing!

But for some folks, the actual organizing and arranging of said vacation can be… a little intimidating.

Whether it’s trying to navigate the train systems, knowing the difference between ramen and udon (both delicious!) or tiptoeing Japan’s cultural etiquette, the whole process might leave you feeling overwhelmed.

An all-inclusive Japan trip offers an easier way to experience so much of what Japan offers.

But what if you don’t want to be stuck on a rigid, cookie-cutter packaged tour?

Well, no need to start imagining yourself being herded around with a bus load of 30 tourists (with matching hats, no less). We’re going to redefine what “all-inclusive” can mean in the context of a Japan vacation (spoiler alert: it’s way better than what you probably had in mind) – and why it could be the best vacation you ever took!

What Does “All Inclusive” Mean for Japan Travel?

When we say “all-inclusive Japan vacation,” we’re not talking about the resort-style trips where everything is done for you, from when & what you eat to the entertainment scheduled every hour. Though we’ll be happy to let you know where to get the best mai tai or margarita in Japan.

And while there are package tours of Japan that give you a fully escorted holiday, on a bus every day with a dedicated tour guide (you know the kind, with a man or woman holding an umbrella and leading you around like a school field trip) – we’re not talking about that either.

Nope. For us, here at Japan Travel Pros, an all-inclusive Japan trip is actually a self-guided tour of Japan.

What exactly does that mean?

A self guided tour is all about putting together the best itinerary that matches up with what you want to see, do, eat, experience & feel while you’re here in Japan.

  • No cookie-cutter itineraries

  • No group bus-loads holding you back

  • No fixed timelines forcing you to wake up early, stay out late or go anywhere / do anything you don’t feel like doing

In other words: travel freedom.

But what if you want a little support?

That’s the beauty of a self-guided tour of Japan — one that’s curated by a group of Japan travel experts who are here to support your travels when you are in Japan.

At Japan Travel Pros, for example, we take care of the essentials while still giving you the freedom to see & experience Japan on your own

Think of it as the ideal balance between independent travel and guided support.

How Does an All-Inclusive Japan Trip Work as a Self-Guided Tour?

Here’s how it works.

We take care of the core logistics for your all-inclusive Japan vacation. That includes:

  • Accommodation advice

  • Consulting on train travel (shinkansen bullet trains + other long-distance rail journeys), domestic flights in Japan & other inter-city transport

  • Sourcing local experiences, day/half-day tours (e.g. city walking tours, food tours, photography tours, baseball, sumo, other theme tours, etc.)

… and more.

But we leave plenty of space for you to explore as independently as you want.

Want to take a guided tour of a historic temple in the afternoon but hit up a ramen shop and nearby bars in the evening on your own? Totally doable.

Need a last-minute adjustment to your itinerary? Restaurant reservations at that Michelin-starred sushi place in Tokyo? Or questions answered about what you’re seeing and experiencing in Japan along the way?

We’ve got you covered with our Virtual Host/Concierge service. This includes “virtual coffee” daily video briefings on Zoom or FaceTime, as well as live chat / email support during the day.

It’s about creating a travel experience that’s uniquely yours. While you’re exploring the urban organized chaos of Tokyo or the Shinto shrines & Buddhist temples of Kyoto, we ensure the essentials are handled so you can focus on enjoying your trip.

Why Choose a Self-Guided Tour for Your All-Inclusive Japan Vacation Package?

The appeal of an all-inclusive trip to Japan comes down to two points: convenience and peace of mind.

Japan is an incredible place to visit, but it can be a puzzle to figure out for first-timers. Between navigating the elaborate transportation systems, booking small Japanese inns (called “ryokan”) in areas outside the major tourist zones, or knowing how to put all those moving pieces of your Japan itinerary together, there’s a learning curve.

Choosing a self-guided tour as your all inclusive Japan holiday package solves this problem by giving you a travel experience that’s tailored to your interests, curated and planned by Japan travel experts (who are also here for support when you’re in Japan).

Super convenient, right?

But convenience doesn’t mean cookie-cutter. A self-guided Japan vacation package means your trip is built around you, but lets you roam Japan to your heart’s content

Want to hike Mt. Fuji one day and spend the next soaking in an onsen hot spring bath? We can make that happen for you.

Prefer a Michelin-starred sushi experience or a hole-in-the-wall izakaya? No problem.

This isn’t the kind of all-inclusive where every day is planned down to the last minute and with no flexibility or room for delays. Nope, your all-inclusive Japan vacation is a mix of careful planning plus the freedom to choose where & when you go and do what you want to do.

You’ll have access to local knowledge that goes beyond what you can find on travel blogs or random screen jockeys on internet forums. From hidden gems across Japan, to the best time to visit popular attractions, this is an all-inclusive Japan vacation experience tailored to what you want – without the stress of having to plan it all yourself.

Who Is a Self-Guided All-Inclusive Japan Trip Best Suited For?

Not everyone loves the idea of traveling in a group, sticking to a strict schedule or hitting all the usual tourist traps.

If those things make you cringe, a self-guided all-inclusive Japan trip could very well be your best bet. It’s ideal for travelers who want flexibility but also appreciate the security of knowing someone has your back if/when you need local Japan support.

Solo travelers, couples & honeymooners, families and even small groups can all benefit from this type of experience. Whether you’re a culture enthusiast eager to experience Japan’s history or a foodie looking to try every type of ramen under the sun, you’re the one who’s setting the pace. You can go from wandering the streets of a historic old town in the morning, to shopping in a local street market in the afternoon, to catching a baseball game in the evening. And it’s all with the comfort & peace of mind knowing that your accommodations & inter-city transportation are taken care of.

This type of all-inclusive vacation package in Japan is also great for people who enjoy doing their own thing but would prefer a bit of expert guidance on the side. You’ll have a safety net in place without losing the thrill of discovering Japan on your own terms.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions About All-Inclusive Japan Self-Guided Tours

  • We don’t handle the booking of international flights to and from Japan. However, we can provide recommendations and consultation on the best flights based on your schedule and preferences. If you're flying first-class or with a commissionable booking, we may assist in securing your flight. Keep in mind, flight prices and availability fluctuate, so it’s important that you make the final booking after our consultation.

  • Our all-inclusive Japan trips cover the essential details, such as planning for accommodations, in-country transportation, restaurant reservations and any activities or experiences you wish to include. However, you’ll still have plenty of flexibility to explore on your own, so it’s not the traditional rigid, fully guided tour. Think of it as your own adventure with expert support every step of the way.

  • Most definitely! Every itinerary is personalized based on your interests, preferences and travel style. Whether you want to visit Japan’s iconic sites or venture off the beaten path, we’ll design an itinerary that suits you. You’re never stuck with a one-size-fits-all schedule. Your all-inclusive Japan holiday is 100% unique to you.

  • Nope. Our trips are self-guided, meaning you won’t be part of a large group of tourists. You'll have the freedom to travel at your own pace, either solo, with a partner or with friends and family. We provide the planning and daily support, but you set the schedule and move at your own rhythm. The only exception is if you want to take part in a local tour for a half or whole day, e.g. city walking tour, food tour, art tour, etc. In those cases, it would likely be with a small group – but it’s totally up to you whether you want to do those types of activities or not.

  • We offer daily Zoom or FaceTime briefings to go over your itinerary, answer any questions and make any adjustments you need. You’ll also have access to live chat / emails every day (with staff available 8am-8pm), so you’re never far from expert help if you need it.

  • Not at all! The itinerary is there to guide you and ensure you don’t miss out on key experiences, but it’s completely flexible. If you wake up one morning and decide to spend more time exploring a new area or just relaxing, go for it! And your local Japan support team is here to help make changes or offer suggestions.

  • We recommend booking as early as possible, especially if you’re traveling during peak seasons (like cherry blossom season in spring or autumn). This allows us to secure the best accommodations, train tickets and restaurant reservations for your trip. Ideally, you should reach out 6-12 months in advance for popular times of the year, but we can often accommodate shorter timeframes as well.
